Enjoy the laid-back lifestyle, sandy beaches and colourful traditions of Camargue, situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the two arms of the Rhone River delta. Journey along the Canal du Rhone à Sète through natural salt lakes and lovely reed marshes. Camargue’s ponds provide one of the few European habitats for the Greater Flamingo, so be sure to bring your binoculars. Watch the Gardiens, local cowboys, with their tridents and black hats rounding up herds of black bulls on their traditional, white horses. With only a few canal locks in the Camargue, there is plenty of time to sunbathe on one of the region’s many beaches before dining on delicious, local seafood.
